FAQ

What is an Independent Patient Advocate?

Independent Patient Advocates work for you, not for your doctor, clinic or hospital, and can coordinate information and assistance in collaboration with you. Our goal is to empower you to become a savvy consumer of healthcare while also navigating any barriers to this. We want you to feel empowered to ask all of your questions and make your own healthcare choices. We are non-medical providers and do not provide medical advice or medical care.

When is Madison Care Management available?

Generally speaking, Monday – Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, but we can be flexible about this if you are currently in crisis or have urgent needs. As long as we discuss it as far in advance as possible, it may be possible to conduct family meetings outside of these hours as well. You are always welcome to contact Madison Care Management, but replies may be delayed outside normal business hours.

Will my insurance cover your services?

No, at this time, insurance typically does not cover patient advocacy, but very often patient advocacy saves you time and money, making it well worth the investment. Please get in touch to schedule a time to discuss this further!

How much will this cost?

Madison Care Management typically charges an hourly rate, to the quarter of an hour. After your free initial 20 minute consultation, you will pay a retainer if you decide to receive services. Time will be drawn down on this retainer as you utilize services; additional hours can be purchased at any time. Together, we decide what would be best for you and your budget.

Can I use your services “as needed”?

Of course! You’d simply purchase hours and utilize them until they are gone.
